Even though you live in Canada, I feel you are feeling more connected to Norway where your family originates from, so why don't you move to Norway?
I am a violent criminal and Norway may not let me reside there… they seem to only want to accept Somalians at the moment!!!
What are the pro and cons about both Canada and Norway?
The music coming out of Canada is MORE extreme then the "symphonic black metal" coming out of Norway at the moment. Norway has a language, a culture, an identity, something Canada will never have. Canada is run by a minority, the less then 12 % of the population FRENCH hold all the political seats, our Prime minister as well is from there. It's MANDATORY that we LEARN the FRENCH language in school here, starting in kindergarten!!! A minority SHOVES their fucking language and heritage down the rest of Canada's throats!!! Canada not only embraces race mixing, homosexuality…it PROMOTES IT!!! This is what happens when you have a bunch of weak- kneed French running your country. French Catholics…worse then the fucking plague!!! Its seems both Canadians and Norwegians have a tendency to whine a lot though, even though both countries are always rated in the top three countries to live in the entire world. Canada and Norway are both the "land of the midnight sun" and 'the land of the Vikings'. Norwegians make almost 3 times the amount of money we do here AND THEY STILL BITCH ABOUT THE PRICE OF BEER?!?!?!
Your violent form of black metal is a perfect combination of good old Norse grimness and the chaotic death feel of Canadian death/black, how did you come up with such a lethal mix?
I never really "came up" with anything. It's just my natural way of playing, a style I've had for well over 15 years!! I've seen reviewers comparing Bloodaxe to bands like Enslaved…I never even heard of these fucks until a few years ago. You have to be pretty fucking stupid to make such comparisons. Bloodaxe is for "The True Instinct of Mankind"!!!!!!
Who influenced you to start the band Bloodaxe, what was the reason for you to start to play music?
My Norwegian heritage really influenced me to start Bloodaxe, of course with a strong dedication to METAL!! Most of my family is musical, Norwegians are very musical people. I started to become real serious about guitar playing when I first heard about Yngvie Malmsteen. I fucking worshipped that guy, I learnt "Black Star" note for note. The very first song I ever learnt. For years all I did was fucking play the Harmonic minor… endlessly..Haha. Then I started to listen to the GREAT CANADIAN THRASH bands, Razor, Sacrifice, Exciter… later on Disciples of Power.
So far you have your killer debut full length "Bloodthrone" out on the streets, how was it received and what do you yourself think about it today?
Haha, ahhh, well it received excellent reviews worldwide but never really sold that well…and I could care less about that because I never started this to become some fucking "Rock Star". I cant listen to it…it was written and recorded so quickly I hear all the mistakes in it. I wrote the entire album in about 3 weeks …we recorded it in a few hours!!
You have called the band for Bloodaxe and your first full length for "Bloodthrone", what does the blood symbolize and why did you choose to call the band Bloodaxe?
Blood of course symbolizes my heritage. It's hard for my relatives in Norway to understand how extremely passionate I am about my heritage. Having Norwegian blood but being born and bred in another country is strange. It actually makes you MORE nationalistic!! They don't think about a lot of things over there because they are surrounded by it everyday. Bloodaxe is of course after Eirik Blodřks, the Norwegian Viking King; the craziest most blood thirstiest Viking of all time!!! "Bloodthrone" also represents the "Blood" he had spilled in order to gain the "Throne"!!!
Will you sum up the essence of "Bloodthrone", what should people expect from your music?
They will be RAPED & SLAUGHTERED…. an onslaught of pure hatred and brutality!!!
Who are you making music to, why are you making music, will you tell the world something with your music?
I am and always have been MAKING MUSIC FOR MYSELF!!! It's good that others enjoy it or hate it or even notice it.but its selfish music for MYSELF!! Another reason why Bloodaxe may never play live …I REALLY DON'T LIKE PEOPLE!! I was born with Metal in my veins!! Fuck the World…I PISS on the world!!!
You are also working on a second full length, when will it be released and what can we expect from it?
Yeah, actually this album was mostly recorded in February 2002!!!! A lot of things happened to delay it… …problems here and there, studio drummer problems. Studio problems, law problems. Even so, Raping the Ancient…its about 95% recorded. It's vastly SUPERIOR to "Bloodthrone". The music is faster; more violent…the production is better. When it's completed it should be close to 35 minutes. I just have some vokills to record and a few acoustics..if my finger has healed in a reasonable amount of time. If not, then we will release the album without the acoustics.
The release has been set back because you have damaged a hand/finger, what the hell have you been doing, the full story please, hehe?
A very strange gardening accident… haha!! I had to have reconstructive surgery on my right index finger. I blacked out. I don't really remember what happened. I just remember my girlfriend waking me up and rushing me to the emergency. I was lying in a huge pool of blood and was going to bleed to death… I should be dead. Odin has let me live for another day. I had to have 13 stitches to close the wound. Then the doctor said there is probably nerve damage and that I should see a specialist. So, I had to wait 2 weeks for my finger to heal, then I had to have an operation to reattach the nerves and tendons and had 7 more stitches and a huge fucking metal thing on my hand…so now I just have to wait and see if it will work again!! Its fucking strange because when we where recording the demo "In Battle" I cut my left hand and had some stitches in when I was recording the gitar tracks, when we where recording "Bloodthrone" I cut my middle finger while wood working, NOW THIS?!??!?
What is the reason for you not to publish the lyrics for "Bloodthrone" in the booklet?
I'm still being "monitored" because of my past criminal offences, so I have to be very careful with what is published. Everyday it seems in this country they are passing new laws in regards to what is "politically correct". In some cases you will receive jail time simply for stating some facts!! If the lyrics were readily available to everyone who knows what would happen, they would be misconstrued and twisted into something they never intended to be.
Will you please go through the album song by song, and tell us about the music and lyrics for each song? You should have the time right now, haha!
Fuck you…each song will take you, rape you and beat you!! The lyrics may be published on the website in a few months… maybe.
You are using a lot of acoustic guitar intermezzo's, why is that, why not just straight forward brutality and grimness?
Honestly I don't think people would have been able to make it all the way through the album without a break in chaos here and there. Too extreme …one fucking faggot in the U.S.A said "26 minutes of PURE garbage, it's like the same riff played over and over real fast". I guess he missed the acoustic guitar pieces??? He also says that Firehouse is his favorite band!! So fuck him …with his mother's dick!! Metal Core??? Stupid American!!
How will you describe black metal?
Black Metal to me is just a big joke right now…skinny little clown faced faggots from Texas hiding behind cactus forests playing their sisters Casio keyboards wearing Darkthrone shirts!!! Saying how fucking extreme they are. Having shitty little "for free" websites with 1000 pop ups, not having a real album out but having an Mp3 on Mp3.com…little fucking Jews who don't want to learn their instruments, just make money. I'm fucking sick of it all!! In Canada there have been all joke "Black Metal" bands. Frozen Shadows…. fucking communist separatist scrawny armed symphonic bullshit!!! Godless North…fucking brown eyed hobbit. Darkthrone worship!! I read an interview with this fucking clown, and he actually stole entire lines from the Count!!! REAL BLACK METAL CANNOT BE DESCRIBED!!!!
You have had quite some drummer problems in the past, are they solved now, who will play on the new album and have you ever thought of getting a "real" line up?
Well Rati is a MANIAC…he's put the drum tracks down for this cd. His drumming is faster and more precise then Bloodthrone…also the drums SOUND a lot bigger and better on this album. He had a lot of problems that did eventually delay this cd..but…Drummers are like a fucking different race of people!! A real line up… why? So we can play "Bob's House of Pancakes???? I highly doubt we will ever play live and if it happens it will definitely be an experience!!! Maybe something along the line of the last "Great White" show!!!
I know there have been some accusations against you, that your music and yourself was rightwing oriented, how do you feel about that?
I have my views and opinions and if people want to read more into it then that's their fucking problem. Lately were seeing a lot of statements from bands like "were not a political band", I'm a musician, not a politician". These are just other ways of saying " we have no backbones" we love to suck the industry cock"!! They don't want to speak their minds because, of course it will upset their record labels and or they wont sell as many CDS as they'd like. Fuck, IM SO HATED that a band actually went into the studio and recorded a song just about me. They never recorded an album; just one song and they put it on MP3.com. It's just a few minutes of them screaming that I'm AN ASSHOLE and all this shit. Just from reading my interviews..I pissed them off that MUCH…the truth HURTS!!!!! A lot of things PISS me off, Bloodaxe is passionate music made by a pure NORDIC man. I use Nordic myths and symbols to PROMOTE my ideas as well as the Nordic culture in an honest fashion. The thing that PISSES me off the most is all these NON - NORDIC fuckers walking around with Tor's Hammers!!!! Its not THEIR culture, they are just trendy little fucks who need their heads smashed in!!! The Nordic heritage and culture has NOTHING to do with some NS believes or other bullshit. Hitler stole from the Nordic people.. Because he KNEW whom the SUPERIOR race REALLY was!!!
"Bloodthrone" was released on your own label White Legends, will you tell us everything there is to know about that label?
It's a label primarily for Bloodaxe…BUT if ANYTHING descent comes our way we will look into it. It's turned into a distro right now; it will eventually become Canada's biggest distro…with the best PRICES!! Caillech and myself run it. I figured no one will ever SIGN Bloodaxe so we might as well sign ourselves!! Haha!!
Have you released other things on it or are it for Bloodaxe exclusively, have you plans on releasing more in the future?
A lot of releases will be coming up…but its mostly Bloodaxe stuff. Bloodthrone vinyl with a different cover EXTREMELY limited…coming real soon as well is the re -print of the Bloodthrone CD with a NEW cover!! The "old cover" was only available for 548 copies; you're the first person to know this!!!
Why have you chosen to call it White Legends, what are your thoughts behind the name?
Canada symbolizes WINTER, very hard winters and snow is white (usually...) I wanted to use Great White North but some fat fucks in Quebec had already taken the name. Then I had the name Dead Legends, but that was a little too "Death Metalish"so we choose White Legends.
Why are you calling yourself Nordavinden, what does nordavinden symbolize for you?
Ahhhh well Nordavinden means "The North Wind " in Norwegian. The North Wind is something very important to not only me but also a lot of people. In Canada our weather comes from the North, the Arctic. The majority of the storms are from the north…People say I'm like a violent Northern storm…a Blizzard of Bloodletting!!!
